A blind teenager thanked the friend who stopped a bully from preying on him in his first interview since the fight.

Austin Higley, a 16-year-old who is legally blind, will appear with Cody Pines, 17, on “The Dr. Phil Show” on Wednesday to talk about the Sept. 23 fracas at Huntington Beach High School in Orange County, Calif.

“Honestly, I feel like you saved my life,” Higley said to Pines in a segment of the interview posted Monday. He choked up a little bit and Pines put his arm around him to hug him as the audience cheered.

Pines is seen in a video saving Higley from a classmate of theirs who had grabbed Higley by the arm and started to slug the handicapped teen. Rather than standing by and doing nothing, Pines runs up and knocks the bully down with just one punch in the footage.

“You trying to jump a f------ blind kid, bro?" Pines can be heard saying in the video. “What the f--- is your problem?”

The teen who had been hitting Higley has apologized, Dr. Phil said. He faces misdemeanor assault charges, while Pines won’t face any charges, police told The Orange County Register.

“I was only trying to hit him once,” Pines told Dr. Phil. “I was just trying to get him off him.”

Dr. Phil replied, “Well, that’s all it took.”
